The Story Behind Food Jonezi Friendz
C. Jonez Nutrition Consulting Services, LLC (DBA, Food Jonezi) is a Washington, D.C.-based health and wellness practice providing personalized nutrition counseling services, nutrition education workshops and healthy cooking classes since 2015. Food Jonezi is our for-profit arm that tends to target a broader audience, which includes the affluent community, Medicaid/Medicare participants, corporations, non-profits, and government agencies.
Food Jonezi has provided personalized nutrition counseling to over 4,500 D.C. residents, facilitated over 1,500 nutrition education workshops, including cooking classes/demonstrations, and participated in over 300 community health fairs sponsored by partnering organizations for over six (6) years.
The for-profit arm inspired us to stay true to our mission and commit our efforts to the D.C. underserved community struggles more significantly with nutrition and food insecurity compared to our well-to-do clients. Therefore, Food Jonezi established its non-profit entity called Food Jonezi Friendz in August 2021.
Through Food Jonezi Friendz, we will continue our work through our Wellness and Smart Café, which will be dedicated to empowering D.C. residents to eat healthier through its cultural-focused cooking classes, interactive workshops, and client-centered nutrition sessions led by credentialed experts such as registered dietitians, licensed nutritionists, and chefs. Food Jonezi Friendz also has started the new Chef in Training nutrition, culinary and cooking program that teaches adolescents between the ages 15-17 years old food, nutrition and culinary education.
